…for various reasons, this took (mostly me) forever to get to, but it’s finally out. Ichikawa Haruko does weird stories. Her long-running series, Houseki no Kuni, is proof of it. Her short stories are no less strange, and many of them share the theme of created beings. The first story we’re releasing in her collection Mushi to Uta is “Star Lover”. It’s thoughtful, bizarre, and somewhat ethereal. Low-key “ick” factor, which you may or may not be able to get past. Check it out if you’re in the mood for something different.
