I’ve also realized that I’ve been neglectful about announcing our upcoming projects. I’m essentially incapable of translating just one series, so I’ll usually have one or two (short/easy) things going on in the background, often oneshots, and often very slowly. Myself and a translator pal are currently juggling three upcoming projects, all of which are rescues:
Ichikawa Haruko Collection: oneshots, will likely start releasing this month
Hana Bolo: interconnected vignettes by Iwaoka Hisae, half translated
Itsuya-san: by the ever-wonderful Sahara Mizu (early stages/tentative)
I’ll try to be better about posting when we add things to our upcoming roster… but it can often take a long while for projects to go from the start of translating all the way to release, so I don’t want anyone to get too excited about it. Regardless, there you have it 🙂
I’d been looking forward to someone picking up one of Ichikawa Haruko’s titles! And Hana Bolo’s definitely going into my reading list; I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read so far by Iwaoka Hisae, and there’s nothing to hint that this might be an exception.
About Itsuya-san: is it teacher/student romance? Its Baka Updates page kind of gave me that impression, but I’d like to confirm before dismissing it.

Hana Bolo stretches my patience for silliness, but it does have the thoughtful moments characteristic of Iwaoka. If you liked Nekomichi, you should like Hana Bolo 🙂
Itsuya-san is slice of life/drama, not romance. The teacher is the guardian figure for two teens with their own troubles, and she helps them face and overcome their situations. …upon reading the MU summary, and looking at the tags, I can see the misconception. I’ll have to write a new summary if/when we get that one released 🙂 If you haven’t read Sahara Mizu, her seinen works are excellent; I highly recommend Watashitachi no Shiawase Jikan (just a vol, also with a terrible MU summary), and My Girl for a longer series. But only when you’re in the mood for feels… all three of these seinen works of hers are bursting with feels.

I loved Nekomichi. I guess that bodes well for my future Hana Bolo aspirations ^_^
I’ve tried most of Yumeka Sumomo’s and Sahara Mizu’s stuff and haven’t liked any of them (not even Yakusoku Siren, even though I normally like stories about sibling love), including Watashitachi and My Girl. But Itsuya-san’s premise sounded good provided it wasn’t teacher/student, so I’m happy to hear that it isn’t. Hope you’ll find the time/motivation to release it someday!
I usually thank (or leave likes) for most of the manga I read. It just seems like the thing to do; I belonged to a scanlation group a long time ago and know what it feels like when you don’t get any comments and such ~.~
At the moment another translator is on Itsuya… if she pulls it off, we’re solid. If not, it’s a matter of me getting to it, which could be a while >.>; Regardless, I do hope you like it, though if you don’t like the atmosphere/mood of her other works… well… I don’t have much hope.
I’ve noticed that seinen & josei groups don’t get many nods. Groups doing BL and the popular shounen stuff get the most love, and smutty shoujo groups get a ton as well. It only makes sense that lower readership of the niche stuff translates to fewer peeps stopping by. But it’s all good, so long as I get to keep reading the manga 😉
