Someone to Catch You

OK! This is the highly dramatic ending to the (more than a little improbable) climax of the story. Mayonaka ends on a high note with stunning imagery and intense introspection. The visuals… just lovely. Though this ends the main story, there is one more chapter which is essentially a flashback to Chiharu, Chiyo, and Nogami’s younger days.

For anyone who enjoyed this story, I recommend you read Shimotsuki’s Coelacanth (if you somehow haven’t read it yet). It has a very similar atmosphere to Mayonaka — dark and introspective. Coelacanth is more of a psychological mystery versus Mayonaka’s fast-paced drama, but they’re the two most similar works that Shimotsuki penned herself.

Also! In a request just as highly improbable as the chapter we just released (hah!), I’m wondering if anyone out there buys the digital version of the Japanese magazine Hibana? There’s a lovely-looking one-shot in the Aug issue I’d love to do. But buying the whole mag just for a one-shot is ludicrous, hence the random request.
